Fairfield University | September 25th and October 16th

Fairfield University was the foundation’s seventh Fresh Check Day and wrapped up events for 2013. The kick-off event took place in the campus center and again featured gong therapy from the conduit center, a plethora of therapy dogs which many students were able to enjoy. Jordan Burnham of the Active Minds Speakers Bureau told his amazing story of survival from a fall from a nine story apartment window in front of an absolutely packed crowd. So many students came to hear Jordan speak that facilities had to bring in extra chairs. The main event took place on October 16th on the Campus Center Green, a great location in the heart of the campus. The weather looked threatening but held steady for the entire event. Some highlights from the tents were the tree of life where students wrote down a reason to live on a  leaf and were then placed on a three dimensional cardboard tree. There was also a bar exam in which students tried to throw a ping-pong ball in a box wearing goggles with simulated levels of blood alcohol content and they also learned how much they really are drinking on a typical night. Entertainment consisted of live student musical performances. Students also enjoyed food from super duper weenie and a large spread provided by Fairfield. All in all, it turned out to be a great event over 700 students in attendance.
