We are pleased to introduce a new program: Fresh Check Day Uplifters! Fresh Check Day Uplifter Awards recognize individuals or groups that have made important and noteworthy contributions to the success of Fresh Check Day at their institution. Fresh Check Day organizers can submit up to 2 individuals, campus departments, or student organizations to receive Certificates of Recognition from the Jordan Porco Foundation. Dr. Steven Zinn of the Department of Animal Science and the Department of Dining Services were both recognized by the University of Connecticut – Storrs Campus as Fresh Check Day Uplifters for their unique Fresh Check Day contributions. 

Dr. Zinn, head of the UConn Animal Science department, has been an outstanding collaborator with UConn’s Counseling & Mental Health Services, the UConn Suicide Prevention Committee, and their annual Fresh Check Day event. UConn cannot imagine a Fresh Check Day without the baby cows that bring so much joy to students! 

UConn’s Department of Dining Services built a s’mores station to go with the camp theme at UConn’s last Fresh Check Day – from scratch!
